Community colleges offer the benefit of beginning a teacher education program while also cutting the cost of tuition at a four-year university.  Community colleges also tend to offer more evening and weekend classes to serve a more diverse student base. In addition, some community colleges are a great source for obtaining credits toward a vocational certification. Programs and credit transfer eligibility varies by college.  Therefore, transfer information should be confirmed by both the community college and university before entering any teacher education program. Currently there is a law being discussed that would simplify the transfer from a community college to a university or college.
